Wow! Barely a month in to the school year, and already most of us Bruins are trying out and joining different sports teams around the school. Soccer, rugby, and field hockey have all started their seasons. With so many different sports to try out and play at Bell, its hard enough to choose! So in the following pages we’ll recap some of what has been happening, in the world of sports.

Soccer

In soccer, the junior boys came out strong, winning most of their games with a 4-1-1 record. Led by Ibrahim Soukry, these Bruins have outscored their opponents by a score of 25-6! They’ve clinched the playoffs and now eye the championship as their next goal.

While the seniors started of slow, they’ve played very well coming close in each and every game and they have a record of 1-4-1 with their most recent game ending in a victory over Redeemer Christian 3-2. Way to go!

Rugby

In rugby news, the boys have just recently competed in the 7’s tournament at Woodroffe. The A team finished in round robin action with a record of 5-1! The boys put in a brilliant effort, but ended losing in the finals, for a strong second place finish. Also, Bell’s other team finished 3-2 in round robin action, finishing in 4th! Next up for these guys is another tournament on October 30. Go pound the other team!

Field Hockey

In field hockey news, the girls finished Longfields-Davidson Heights off with a 1-0 win on Thursday! Watch them play their final regular season against Nepean High on the 19th of October. Congratulations to a team that was always full of spirit, good sportsmanship and energy! A job well done!

X-Country

The Haw-X-Country meet was recently at the Hornet’s Nest on Thursday October, 15. Bell had many participants and everyone representing our school tried very hard and ran their best. Notable results are from the top 3 Bell runners in each grade:

Grade 9 Girls:
1st- Sam Klus
7th- Bridget Irwin
14th- Montana Mason

Grade 9 Boys:
9th- Sean Leipe
25th- Cole Williams

Girls Ice Hockey

The girls have played two games so far, against some very hard teams from A.Y. Jackson and West Carleton. They played hard and had fun and had good sportsmanship but unfortunately lost against both teams: A.Y. Jackson: 5-8, West Carleton: 3-7

These guys have played 5 hard games so far but unfortunately have a record of 0- 5. The 5 games were against Lisgar (3-1), Hillcrest (3-0), Earl of March (3-1), Glebe (3-0) and Beatrice Desolges (3-0). There are 5 more games to go; the next will be on October the 20th against Nepean. Come and support our team!

Varsity Girls Volleyball

These girls have played 6 games and have won 2 of them; against John McCrae (27-16) and St. Francis Xavier (24-11).
