A collective of bright minds and fast hands, Reach for the Top is the trivia team at Bell High School. As one of the top Ottawa teams in two different trivia circuits – Reach for the Top (Reach) and NAQT (Quizbowl) – we compete in tournaments from Lisgar to the University of Ottawa to Guelph.

We are always looking for new recruits, so come try your hand at one of our practices. The Junior team (Grade 9/10) practices on Wednesday lunch, while the Senior team (Grade 11/12) practices on Tuesday lunch. All practices are in Room 227 in the math wing. The regular tournament season is already starting, but it’s never too late to start coming out to practices. We welcome all newcomers to try their hand at Reach.

Bell was the national Reach champion in 1992-93, and has remained one of the top competitors in the country. Last year’s top team of Wilson Zhang, Christine Irwin, Richard Ye, Nicholas Harrison, Aravind Pillai, David Parlor and Yousef Masood came 4th place in the Ottawa regionals for Reach, narrowly missing a place in the provincials in Toronto. However, in their first year in NAQT, they scored a top-10 finish at the NAQT provincials in Guelph.

With a strong returning squad and a wealth of new talent, this year’s edition is sure to make a big splash on the Ottawa trivia scene.

So why not come out and be a part of it? Whether you are a trivia buff, or just bored and looking for something to do at lunch, Bell’s Reach for the Top team is the perfect place to try a different sort of game, learn something new, and make some friends in a casual environment.
